For 17 years I have been collecting Caribbean ocean tumbled pottery. At one time they were ceramic & clay - vessels, bricks or tiles. Over years of tumbling in the ocean, their edges are worn away, smoothed & re-shaped. I make a variety of handmade ceramic necklaces from them, like this unusual clay pendant necklace.
The layered clay pottery pendant on this unusual ocean pottery necklace features a white salt spotted, teardrop-shaped, red clay pottery tile and a tan ceramic tile, that looks like a tough piece of leather. They are stacked & wrapped together with shiny copper wire into an unusual clay pendant. It hangs from a soft brown natural leather cord. The layered pottery pendant on this unusual necklace measures 2" long. It is an adjustable necklace. Pulling the leather & end beads expands & shortens it's length. It can be worn short or as a long necklace. When worn on your salty & irie ride, the copper will naturally patina, aging the metal on this clay, unusual ceramic surfer necklace beautifully. Like most of the water bound beads & pendants used on my women's & men's, cool surfer necklaces, the clay ocean pottery pendant is lacquered for endurance.
It has natural good ju ju being that it is handmade in a hammock on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico. So if your "Shopping Vieques" for an unusual Vieques souvenir, this cool surfer, ocean pottery necklace makes an unusual gift for a bohemian surf hippie or wannabe.
From my - contemporary tribal, ethnic, chic, hippie & beach - bohemian jewelry collection, this unusual clay necklace is one of many handmade unusual jewelry creations found in my ceramic jewelry, ocean pottery jewelry, surfer jewelry and long necklace collections, here at beadingbikini.com.
